DEM files from other sources than vfp (sonny.4lima.de)

Fro DEM I normally use the vfp-files, downloaded through MC or manually in place before the first MC run.
I was curious when reading the mentioned webside and downloaded some 3" files, brought them in place for MC and ran a (clean) map generation.
It ran ok, but the map has completely distorted contour lines.

I read this in the release notes for one of the MC versions:
Beim ersten Start werden die Höhendaten in ein neues Format gebracht
Does this mean that MC is patching the .hgt-files?
Can I use the DEM-files from sonny's website and somehow make MC run the mentioned format conversion?

Regards

The reason is that MC assumes a certain fixed grid size for the different sources. If you replace the .hgts with a different grid size, results will be totally bonkers.

Thanks.
The .hgt-files from sonny and vfp cover a 1x1 degree area and have the same size, so I assumed the geometry was ok - how do I convert them, if I know the input grid size?

If they are the same grid size, then you need to flip them vertically. That was also the conversion you mentioned, in order to make them compatible with the tool mkgmap.

I see. Will you disclose the command to do the flipping? I assume the necessary tools might be included in the two MC downloads...

Spent most of the morning looking for information about the conversion - nothing found.
Will MC do the conversion for me if I make a virgin install, and have the DEM-files I want to test in place before I start MC?
